Launches “Extended Torque” Actuators |

Morin
Actuator,
founded by Bob Morin in Birmingham, Alabama
in 1989, manufactures pneumatic and
hydraulic quarter-turn actuators.
The Morin product line
is distinguished in the marketplace by its
standard offering of corrosion-resistant
stainless steel materials, while remaining
competitive with other commodity products.
Morin products are
used successfully in a wide variety of flow
control applications including power, oil
& gas, chemical processing,
pharmaceutical, food & beverage, pulp
& paper, textile, and municipal
water & waste.. |
|
Houston
– Oct. 28, 20 08 – Tyco Flow Control (TFC),
a leading provider of valves, actuators and
controls, has significantly expanded its
Morin scotch yoke product offering. The new
“Extended Torque” actuators have an
output four times greater than the power
available from existing models. Morin
Actuator manufactures pneumatic and
hydraulic quarter-turn actuators at its
Pelham, Alabama facility and is
distinguished in the marketplace by offering
high-performance standard configurations.
The
new actuators can generate torque in excess
of one million inch pounds – which can
operate valves up to 108 inches in size
depending on service conditions. The Morin B
& C Series models are designed to meet
the demanding applications and needs of many
industries including, but not limited to oil
and gas, power, chemical process, water,
waste water, and many others.
“Morin
developed the extended torque models because
of the demand for quicker deliveries of
large actuators,” said Bob Morin, Director
of Automation for Tyco Flow Control-Americas
and founder of Morin Actuator.
Morin
Actuator has an established reputation for
exceptional and consistent delivery
performance in the industry. |

Morin
Direct Mount Cast Adaptors
Features and Benefits:
-
The
bracket and coupling are the least expensive
portion of a valve and actuator assembly.
Unfortunately, the bracket and coupling
receive the least amount of attention. We
believe they deserve more attention. Mounting
hardware controls the alignment and overall
distance between the valve and actuator.
-
Improperly
manufactured brackets and couplings can cause
premature valve stem seal failure or potential
sideloading of the stem, increasing torque
requirements and reducing valve cycle life .
-
The
Morin adaption is cast from high strength
ductile iron and CNC machined to hold tight
tolerances. Precision machined couplings and
castings lead to less "stack up"
tolerances guaranteeing consistency in each
cast adaptor kit at a low cost.

Direct Mount MRP Pneumatic
Actuator
This actuator is designed to directly mount of
valves that incorporate the Keystone
Drilling without the need for mounting brackets.
The
MRP is also available in the ISO Standard for
bracket mounting on all other types of valves.
Spring
Return and Double Acting Pneumatic Quarter-Turn
-- Actuators For Output Torques to 13,444
lb.in.
The Morin MRP Pneumatic Actuator is a compact,
rack & pinion design, conforming to Keystone
standard or direct mount standards or EN ISO 5211
mounting configuration, depending on the drive
adaptor installed.
Features
and benefits
-
Compact
rack and pinion design utilizes the whole
piston area to develop output torque.
-
Pistons
with integral rack drive reduce the number of
dynamic seals, minimizing air leakage.
-
Double
pistons nullify sideloads on the pinion shaft,
minimizing bearing wear and extending life.
-
Internal
air porting eliminates external tubing.
-
Hard
anodized aluminum body with external
electrostatic powder coating (ESPC) finish
protects against corrosive environments.
-
Female
output drive enables direct mounting of most
Keystone valves, eliminating special
adaptation connections and assuring correct
alignment.
-
Bottom
entry pinion shaft simplifies assembly and
provides anti-blowout feature.
-
Anti-friction
piston pads ensure no metal-to-metal contact,
providing smooth operation. Ideal for
modulating or on/off control applications.
-
Adjustable
travel stops standard in both directions on
sizes 065 through 091.

Morin
announces the release of two new
options that take plant safety to a new level.
|
|
Morin
Partial
Stroke Test Device (PSTD)
The
Morin Partial Stroke Test Device (PSTD) was
developed to allow users to test emergency
shut-down valves without disrupting the process.
The PSTD unit is locked out when the unit is in
service and the valve functions normally. When the
unit needs to be tested, the operator unlocks the
device and inserts the stop pin, allowing for 15
degrees of valve travel to sufficiently test the
valve package. Unlike electronic versions, you are
guaranteed a hard stop and no over-travel, time
after time, without any special calibration |

Test Device) |

Morin
Lock-out
Feature
The
second option, the lock-out feature, allows
operators to mechanically lock out the actuator in
a safe position while work is being done on the
process.
Since
their inception, Morin pneumatic actuators have
gained the reputation of being one of the most
rugged actuators on the market. The Morin line was
developed in all stainless steel in the beginning,
allowing Morin to win over customers by taking on
their toughest problems. Even the Series B follows
the tradition of using stainless steel cylinders
with a Ductile Iron body, thus eliminating the
cylinder corrosion that kills most actuators. With
standard features like stainless steel cylinders,
yokes, and bearings on every moving part, Morin
actuators have an extremely long life cycle,
making them an excellent long-term investment for
plant operators.
(Click
here for brochure on Morin Lock-out Feature)
If
you want to protect your people, process and
actuator investment, choose Morin. Don’t be
fooled by imitations and false promises out there
in the field. Go with the one that people have
relied on for years.
